So why did Alabama magically skip UGA even though they were next in the rotation and get Kentucky instead?

How about this: in 2012, UA was supposed to play UT, UGA, and Vandy from the east. In comes aTm and Mizzou and we drop down to only 2 east opponents. Now, there's no way we were going to drop UT, so they were one of the two. Now I believe aTm got to host UF (one of the best teams historically, at least since 1990, in the east). So I imagine the SEC wanted to give the same treatment to Mizzou. Alabama is without question the best team historically out of the teams in the west. So that's how UA played UT and Mizzou instead of UT, Vandy, and UGA in 2012.

Now for 2013. UA was supposed to play UT, UGA, and UK. Because of the two bridge schedules, they may be trying to get to a more typical rotation. UK was supposed to roll onto the schedule instead of UGA, so there you have it.
