Passing teams absolutely blistered us 9 out of 10 times under EJ. I liked him, but I was not upset to see him go. Every time we faced Arkansas with him at the helm I just cringed and got sloppy drunk before the games.

If Brad Lawing had not been his DLine coach, I seriously doubt if EJ would have been as successful as he was while here.

Add the names Brick Haley and David Turner and this is exactly how I feel about his time at MSU...

He had a couple of really good, big-play defenses for us -- they were just never total packages. At least not like the ones we put together in 10 and 11...
