Ok, fair enough... So how can LSU be overrated because of how much we lose on defense and Bama not be overrated?

I think LSU is about right to slightly overrated but mostly because I don't see us going through our schedule without speed bumps, not solely because of who we lost... Fair?

Because y'all lost more at crucial positions.

Bama lost:

ILB Nico Johnson
CB Dee Milliner
DE Damion Square
S Robert Lester
NT Jesse Williams

The only key positions that they lost were a CB and a NT. The rest are relatively easy to replace. Nico was already losing snaps, Square is a replaceable type talent, Lester peaked as a soph. plus has Collins or Sunseri behind him.

LSU Lost:

DE Keke Mingo
DT Bennie Logan
DE Sam Montgomery
DE Lavar Edwards
LB Kevin Minter
S Eric Reid
CB Tharold Simon

That's 3 DE's, the best LB, and the top 2 in the secondary.

If you just go by returning starters then A&M is obviously overrated, in my opinion. But I don't think you can do that. "LSU isn't rebuilding, they're reloading." How many times have we heard that (and it was an accurate assesment) and why shouldn't the same apply to A&M? A&M will be fine, sez me. The only question mark for me is the bruisers up front on defense. At every other position I think A&M is better or at worst the same. But we'll see - I may be completely full of shite. That's what makes it fun.
