This is what folks seem to miss in adding schools in the east. The B1G is not really gaining the fans of Rutgers and Maryland as much as upgrading carriage rates for the other B1G alumni living in those states. B1G has lots of living alumni in DC and NYC markets so getting a local school like RU or MD allows the B1G to lever up the living alumni via carriage rates for the other 12 schools in the B1G not names MD or RU.
