Pretty much anything LSU's band plays is the shiz. But nothing beats Chinese Bandits and Neck (RIP). Auburn and Mississippi State's high school bands tried to rip the neck off, but it was laughable compared to LSU. As others have said, the ending to Tiger Rag is incredible (especially when you have thousands of drunken corndogs spelling out TIGER).
I love the intro to Yea, Alabama, but after that, the song goes to shite. However, Alabama's fourth down song is f'ing awesome (don't know the name, but it's not that Phantom of the Opera shite). Other than that, 'Bama's bad has their moments, but overall, they're mediocre... and their halftime performances are just flat out appalling. Given the name, history and size, you'd expect a lot more out of them.
Excluding the fact that Rocky Top is the gayest fricking song ever written, Tennessee's band rocks it out. After the 60th time they play it in the pre-game, it eventually gets old. But the first time it's played it'll give you a boner.
Auburn's band is really annoying. They have the potential to rival LSU's band, but it's like they try way too hard, more so than any other band in the conference. They're constantly playing over and over and over again, and it's like they never take a break. With the exception of War Eagle, all of the songs they play have been played out by every high school and college band in America and they do a poor job with them overall IMHO. I guess that's what they get for hiring a Bama grad to lead the group.
And Ole Miss has a band? Color me surprised!

Let go of the :rivalry: talk for a moment and realize that the A&M/texas rivalry has always seen a LOT of back and forth. The fight songs are no exception on both sides.
From the University of Texas' official band webpage
"From a 1952 letter by Colonel Walter S. Hunnicutt on the history of Texas Fight:
"I wrote 'Texas Fight' ... in an attempt to counteract the songs and yells of the Texas Aggies, which were not too complimentary to our Student Body and some of which tended to ridicule 'The Eyes of Texas'.
"Long before I entered The University of Texas in 1909 and until about the year 1928 the Aggies had one of the most effective and awe inspiring songs used by any student body any where any time. 'Farmers Fight' at that time was their sacred College song. ... It was to them what 'The Eyes of Texas' had always been to us. The song was a repetition of the words 'Farmers Fight' sung to the well known bugle call 'Taps' in the same slow tempo as the bugle call is used by the army for lights out at night.
"Returning to Marlin, TX after World War One I resumed my practice of attending most of the Texas foot-ball games, especially those with A. & M. It occurred to me that an effective way to strike back at the Aggies was to write a 'Texas Fight' song in answer to their 'Farmers Fight' using the same bugle call 'Taps' changed to lively march time and having 'Texas' throughout the song instead of 'Farmers'. 'Texas Fight' (Texas Taps) is the result.""

I would expect very little from a school who only has two words in their entire song.

Being a former band nerd (including LSU drumline for a year) 20 something years removed, I love the SEC bands.
I don't know about the best, but I love:
- War Eagle by Auburn
- Ole Miss playing Dixie
- UGA playing Gooooooooo Georgia Bulldogs
- Go Gators (you have to hear this one in the Swamp to get the true chills from it)
- Texas A&M halftime (not warmed up to them being an SEC team quite yet, but from the past when LSU played them)
- and that fricking buzz roll at the beginning of the Bama fight song that pisses me off because they just scored, get nightmares from that but ironically like the fight song
to all the SEC bands, may that tradition never die

All in all, it was a pretty damn boring game.

I am not familiar enough with other sec teams fight songs to make a list. What does everyone think of uga's fight song?

For some reason I think this is one of the catchiest tunes in the SEC, but it's incredibly underrated

Is it the one that sounds like I've Been Working on the Railroad? I'm with you, not really into the bands at games.

Not the same tune. The tune is "Glory Glory Hallelujah". "I've been working on the railroad" is "The Eyes of Texas".

Always been jealous of this one. Love it and hate it at the same time. We've outplayed that damn imperial march. So sick of it.

It just gives me chills everytime that I hear that song pre game time. When you can smell the food in the air, the slight buzz of a few beer or mixed drinks in you waiting for "The Walk Of Champions" to begin and you hear AC/DC "Thunderstruck" playing, the chant of the crowd, the players walking up to the stadium entrance of the North end zone and you know "it's about to go down in BDS....ROLL TIDE!
Damn I can't wait until September gets here..
