If you get past the WCW insult (Every southerner knows that we had abandoned WCW long before it finally folded) this is a pretty humorous and accurate article. I have a few comments on his comments.
Distribution: It's always a challenge when ESPN and cable companies have to fight it out, but all I'm gonna say is that if Cox Cable (the cable i have here in NOLA) can get the Longhorn Network (yes we have the Longhorn Network) I'd better get the SEC Network. His comments on there being some tough negotiations ahead are very real
# of games: The thing that puts the SEC Network over the top is the baseball.
Other programming: My father has U-Verse which has the BTN and I did see that they were playing the Nebraska-Florida Fiesta Bowl blowout as a Big Ten Classic, which is so pathetic that i nearly had a coronary, so I know where the author is coming from. Hopefully, ESPN will have its documentary division in full motion for the new network, because those guys put out some quality stuff.
On Air Talent: he has another great point here. Right now, the SEC on ESPN stuff does have a JP Game feel to it, and that's not just because they now show the JP Game. They need to improve in this area from where they are now. They need real SEC people in these roles. I actually hope Finebaum can find a role doing soemthing for the new network.
Headquarters: The fact that it will be in Charlotte is an absolute disgrace. Whats wrong with Birmingham or Atlanta or New Orleans? Because you have facilities in Charlotte? So what...you are ESPN, you have more money than God and you have over a year to prepare. Get out of Charlotte.
Advertisers and Money: I don;t care about that but you would think that the SEC Network would trump the BTN in both areas, especially if the author is right about the restrictions thet Big Ten schools have placed on the BTN.

Charlotte is our gateway into the Washington area market without having to take a team from said market. One or more of those teams will eventually fold to the power of the SEC. I like the Charlotte idea.

The BIG Network is awesome. I hope the SEC network will match it.

This might be a dumb question...but it's important to me. Will I be able to go to my favorite little secluded bar and watch Alabama and the rest of the SEC games or will they have to buy something else to get the channel? I live in central Florida if that means anything.
