I think the most to gain is Bielema and the most to lose is Calipari.

At worst he gets some heat if he doesn't win a NC with the incoming group.

There are a handful of SEC coaches that are coaching for their jobs next season. I'm going to say someone like Anthony Grant probably has more to lose at that rate.

Most to gain: Mark Stoops

- They are already recruiting very well for being Kentucky. If they prove to be successful and entertaining he may be able to start to do really well in Ohio recruiting wise.

Most to lose: Anthony Grant

If he doesn't produce a good season he will be gone.

While I dont want to see Bama do bad, I do not want them to do well enough for him to be kept.

If Mullen loses 7 or 8 games this year, heads will roll.

Oh, I thought he had the most to lose. Looked a little chubby IMO.

Will it take that many? I would think 6 or 7.

After four years he is 29-22 without beating anyone of consequence. If he goes 6-6 this year and loses his bowl, or if he goes 5-7 and fails to qualify ... either way I figure they are gonna can him.

Or am I wrong MSU fans? He's 13-19 in conference play right now, heading into his 5th season. If he goes 2-6 in conference play ... do you keep him another season?

Could a school like State lure Hud away from ULL?

Did you have Spurrier on a hot seat after year 4? Surely you did after year 5? He was 28-22(15-17) after year 4 -- on his way to 35-28(18-22) after year 5. It's a lot harder to elevate a program's ceiling than it is to climb to that ceiling -- basically meaning that some jobs are simply much harder builds than others.

All that to say that you are wrong. He's not even in a warm room right now despite MSU fans being upset about how last season ended. It would take a total train wreck of a season this year to put him on the hot seat(he's not getting fired). Then, we will be a better team in 2014 with personnel that fits his style much better overall.

Keeping in mind that none of these guys dealt with the SECw of today:
MSU coaches over their first 4 years:
Mullen - 29-22
Croom - 17-30
Sherrill - 26-19-2(went 3-8 in yr 5)
Felker - 16-28
Bellard - 25-21
Tyler - 15-28-2
Shira - 10-29-2
Davis - 18-20-2
Walker - 15-21-1
Royal - 12-8(left for Washington)
Warmath - 10-6-3(left for Minnesota)
Morton - 8-18-1(fired)
McKeen - 34-5-2 pre WWII

Reason I picked Cal is the "shine" may be lost if they struggle. He is more national, so he will be having to fight off more negative hits on reputation style etc. I do not expect them to struggle at all though.

If he didn't win a championship 2 years ago and already have a top 5 recruiting class coming in (2014) I may agree with you.

I just don't see it really having any negative effect on him or the program though.

Depends on how you define the question. The coach who obviously has the most to lose is Saban, simply because he has the most, period. Now, what are the odds that Saban ever loses even a smidgen of what he has? Microscopic. But he definitely has the most. A billionaire among millionaires.

what heads? It wont be Mullen's

If we fired him after this season- we'd owe him about 7.5MM- that's not going to happen.

Mullen will keep his job if he goes 0-8 in the SEC in 2013

Gene Chizik was 2 years removed from winning a BCS Title and he had around 7.5 million dollar buyout. He got fired for going 0-8 in the SEC in case you missed it.

When has Auburn and Miss State EVER been run in the same manner?

Mullen wont be fired after 2013 even if he fricked a goat on the 50 yd line at halftime of a game. The administration is behind him 100% not to mention we arent going to pay somebody 7.5MM to go away. We can't afford it. Has zero chance of happening.

Poor people problems.

Doesn't matter though, Mullen is a much better football coach than Chizik and won't go 0-8.
