I called this one from a mile away.
Niners like them some proven starters with the 'championship' attitude. Add to that Reid's work ethic and non-honey badger BS persona, and you have the perfect niner.
They needed a long term dependable safety, other parts of the defense are so good that they needed to focus on getting a consistent and durable player, which is exactly what they got. Yes they might have reached a little high for Reid, but when you have 13 picks in the draft, you can play around a bit. At the end of the day they got their guy, and Harbaugh's been right about a lot of other 'questionable' picks (Aldon Smith for example).
