Guy started 8-0 at Arkansas his freshman year never to be heard of again... Sad story

Yeah I still don't get what happened.
That whole 2006 episode proves to me that Arkansas fans and Houston Nutt can't handle success.

He just wasn't that good. Simple as that. He's hardly the first highly recruited QB to be a bust.

All I remember is Houston Nutt promising PT to mustain with Malzahn's offense.
Then McFadden became a beast. Nutt should have saw this coming.
Nutt went run game heavy.
Mustains mom started bitching.
Nutt was texting some hussie. And got caught by the FOI act.
Crazy story that deserves a documentary on everything. Not just mustain.
What did I leave out?

Don't forget Ms Prewitt's email "Mr. Interception King"
with the reputation Mustain's family had and the way he was being treated it was a good thing he left.

I remember somebody posted a clip about the filming of this documentary a year or 2 ago. Glad to see there's a trailer for it now.
Any timetable on a release date?
ETA: Just found this, for those that are interested.

Very.
I wonder if all the blame in this story will go to HDN without any to Gus- it probably will.

Nolan's getting his Morgan Freeman on. Guess they paid him his money.
I feel bad for the guy that got the Executive Producer credit, chipped in a bucket of cash thinking Arkansas fans would go see it in Film Festivals, help it get picked up for theatre distribution, bank digital downloads, and stocking stuffer DVD sales along with some Wal*Mart distribution and none of that is going to happen.
Is cool to see BDS get a music credit, guess he got paid too. He might be able to take some Sunday night shifts off now.

1. Nutt was jealous of Malzahn because Gus the Pius was revered as the “savior” of the program from Nutt.
2. The Dork Jester also didn’t like Mustain because Mitch was a “star” at rival HS Springdale while Nutt’s son rode the pine at Fayetteville.
3. Mustain and Gus had a lot of early success and the more success they had the more jealous Nutt became because Malzahn was considered the “savior” of the team. I can’t emphasize enough just how petty and childish Nutt is but trust me on this.
4. The arse Clown realized the only way to regain control of “his” team was to bench Mustain because Casey Dick was unable to do the things Mustain could.
5. Nutt benched Mustain and publically stated that he was going to “dial back the offense”.
6. After Mustain’s benching the Hogs reverted to the failed offensive philosophy Nutt was famous for.
7. Nutt and his brother Danny enlisted the help of a bull dyke to help harass Mitch via e-mail and both were probably complicit in the actual creation of some or all of the derogatory e-mails.
8. The rest is history.

Meh ... he could've been. He never had a chance, though, due to a lot of other weirdness going on at the time.

Mustains mom started bitching.
I do agree that it happens pretty often, and Mustain's circumstances with his mother being too outspoken reminds me of a similar situation in my hometown. There was an extremely highly recruited QB years ago out of my high school - won the state championship his jr. year & got to the semi-finals his senior yr., but got injured. Although he'd signed with Arkansas to play quarterback, Lou Holtz switched him to a defensive back position because the injury had affected his passing ability. Even after extensive rehab, he wasn't as mobile as he had been. The guy's mother got involved, as well, and even had a petition signed by a lot of alumni & Razorback boosters to keep him as quarterback, which was ridiculous. She also called Holtz's residence. Needless to say, she didn't win that argument with Holtz, and did her son more damage than anything. He was red-shirted, then ended up transferring, but didn't play at that university, either. (won't say where) It's really too bad since he was the most highly recruited player in the state during his high school years.
I see a similarity with the guy from my hometown, Mustain, and Alex Collins. All of their mothers were overbearing and got way too involved in their sons' & coaches' decisions. Thankfully, Collins has good support from others, including the coaches, and should do well at Arkansas despite his batshit crazy mother. Too bad for Mustain, who was very talented, that wasn't the case.
