Scouting grades: Fastball: 60 | Curveball: 50 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 50 | Overall: 45
Following a star turn at the World Wood Bat Association World Championship in October and a fine start to his senior season, Neidert was pushing to go as high as the supplemental first round. Then he came down with elbow tendinitis, which affected his stuff and sidelined him toward the end of the season.
When he was fully healthy, Neidert was pitching at 92-94 mph and peaking at 96 with his lively fastball. He has an advanced changeup for a high schooler, maintaining his arm speed and imparting some fade when he throws it. He did a better job of spinning his curveball, though some scouts wonder if he might be better off throwing a slider.
Neidert lacks ideal size at 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, though he generates his velocity with athleticism and arm speed rather than effort. The South Carolina recruit is a good athlete who lives around the strike zone.

After digging in on some draft things over the course of the past week, I expect 2015 infielder LT Tolbert (Piedmont/IMG Academy) to find his way to South Carolina this summer. The numbers just don’t add up for him to sign a professional contract as the signing bonus he wants isn’t close to what MLB teams would be willing to pay.

This is shaping up to be a good year for the Gamecocks as it relates to the draft as it stands right now on May 11. The top two players that South Carolina has to be wary of signing are Nick Neidert (Suwanee, Ga./Peachtree Ridge) and Adam Hill (Anderson/T.L. Hanna).
