He recently went to see power-hitting first baseman Ross Grosvenor of Walter State, who is hitting .408 this season with 11 home runs and 58 RBIs. He has more walks (22) than strikeouts (20). That sounds way too much like a staff that needs to find players already developed by other programs to bring games that they themselves are incapable of teaching to what are typically near top-10 rated recruiting classes. Coach Tanner believed in the JUCO route, but only to shore up positions of need where the existing talent was thin at. I thought we were bringing in top caliber prep talent for most of those positions...
