2017 class but the Gamecocks are in the hunt for another national prospect. Infielder Garrett Blaylock (Asheville, N.C./TC Roberson) is ranked as the No. 54 player in the country by Perfect Game and he has offers from a who’s who of programs in the southeast. South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and North Carolina are some of the major programs who are after him. Blaylock currently plans to make a decision in late January and the feeling is that it will come down to the Gamecocks and Tar Heels, as it so often does.

South Carolina is looking for a left-handed pitcher to fill out the 2016 class. It wouldn’t surprise me if the Gamecocks ultimately took two left-handed arms and they’ve identified three to evaluate up close. There is a pitchers/catchers camp on January 10-11 and three players who the coaches want to evaluate are scheduled to come in.

Class of 2016 lefties Jonathan Jahn (Clarks Hill/Westside), Josh Gregory (Gaffney/Gaffney) and Jake Wright (Chester/Chester) are all set to be in Columbia to pitch in front of Jerry Meyers and the rest of the USC staff.
