Reported on the radio that it wasn't illegal until October 2011.

It was made illegal to possess the spice in 2010. Just like it is illegal to possess marijuana, not test positive in a drug test. To my knowledge, no player was ever arrested for possessing spice. The NCAA made it a violation for testing positive in 2011.

Also tests to detect Synthetics became available Jan 24, 2011. Auburn began testing for it Jan 27, 2011.
