Doesn't explain a large amount of them wanting Updyke dead or in prison for life.

I'm not defending anyone who wants him dead at all. Or even life in prison. But what the dude did was low-down and unnecessary.

I grew up in Auburn. I've been going to Auburn games since before I can remember. Rolling the oaks afterward is such an important part of the Auburn football tradition to me that I absolutely hate the fact that I won't be able to take my kids there when I start a family, that they won't be experiencing the same bit of Auburn history and tradition that I was able to experience for the first 19 years of my life.

Y'all can rag on it all y'all want about them "just being trees" or how rolling them is "childish", I don't care. But apparently asking for the respect for us to go about our post-game celebrations as we will is too much to ask for in this backwards, hick-filled state.

How will they not be able to do it? I thought they were replacing them.

The fact that it was an Alabama fan that poisoned the trees and was proud of it, is what made Auburn so pissed/emotional. Had it just been some random prick, or had the trees died on their own it wouldn't have been the three ring circus story that it became.
