So here's the story. About a month ago I took a trip home for a weekend of partying and drinking, and perhaps a trip out to a friends land to shoot my new pistol. I brought 2 clips with me and came home with one. I've been back since them and searched high and low in the 2 places the clip might have been. Nothing.

I chalked it up as a loss and went ahead and ordered another clip a few days ago offline. Well, TSA found my clip in my carry on a few minutes ago. It had 10 rounds in it. They ran a background check and sent me on my way, said I could see the airport police chief when I got back and if everything checked out he would give me my clip back.

I'm ok with all that. What I'm a little pissed off about is that they said since the clip had 10 rounds in it, I'll likely be getting a fine. My record is spotless, I've got a CCW license so it's been determined that I'm a responsible gun owner, I just thought I'd lost this clip. This is a bag that has a cardboard slat at the bottom that things can slide under, and that's where the clip was

Would you pay the fine or lawyer up?

Depends on how much the fine is.

I'm reading 250, but I think it's also and admission of guilt to purposely doing it, when I did so accidentally and unknowingly.

And I know 250 isn't a load of money, but I feel like
It's more than I should have to pay for having 10 bullets in my bag

I'd check to see what recourse if any you could take. For such a small fine a lawyer will probably tell you to just pay it.

I agree it's absolute horseshite that they fined you.

lol you think you shouldn't be fined for trying to smuggle bullets on an airplane?

They should put you in a jail for terrorist idiots.

Pay the fine idiot. A lawyer will cost you 10x as much. Unless it affects a security clearance or otherwise your job, pay the fine. Nobody else GAF about your record.

I did read it.

1. Idiot tries to bring bullets onto an airplane.
2. Idiot gets all confused and sad when he gets a fine for attempting to bring banned items onto an airplane.

Am I missing anything?

Pay the fine. Include a note that says "kindly go frick yourself."

The poor court clerk making $22, 000/ year is gonna have to count 25000 pennies. I don't see how that's punishing TSA.

As I stated, I thought I left the clip at my friends house weeks ago, to the point that I purchased a replacement. I wasn't "trying" to do anything.

The part where 9 bullets doesn't warrant a fine, but 10 does. I can do more damage with the strap on my bag than with 10 bullets and no gun. Kindly go frick yourself
