I see it differently.

With the exception of 1 game...

Only SC, Bama, and Nebraska ran successfully on that defense. Excellent offensive line with exceptional running backs, and the ever-lingering threat of a pretty good quarterback is what turned a 2 yard run play into a 4 yard run play, in each of those games.

I submit that the 3-4 wasn't a weakness in any of those circumstances. A 4-2-5 or 4-3 would have yielded similar results.

what about 3-3-5? Its good against the pass, and decent against the run. But if an RB take the handoff on the outside, it could be a big play.
