It makes way more sense to me to add the larger numbers first and then the smaller numbers, it's what I've always done. I don't even bother to put them in a column because I usually just do it in my head.
It fricked me up on math tests as a kid when I'd have to arrange the numbers in a column and add from right to left. It made no sense to me, or just seemed unnecessary.

That's exactly what Scott says, but he takes the mental math to extraordinary levels...which he claims we all can learn quite easily.
Scott is all about doing math in the most efficient way possible.
The strange thing is that Scott has been speaking to mathematicians across the world for years trying to get them to change the way math is taught to children and.....
The math establishment refuses to change offering no logical explanations why they refuse.
