Before I say this, I know that at least one arse-To-Mouth elitist prick is going to throw out a retort about how little knowledge of IP law people on this board have...to them, I say "fair enough". Keep in mind however, there are thousands of things that people on here know more about than you. Having knowledge of one thing does not make one intellectually superior on the whole. I digress...

Giving that disclaimer or asking questions is what a reasonable person would do and doesn't deserve the prick routine. However, people who immediately come in throwing punches when they obviously have no idea what they're talking about deserve everything that comes to them. Fair?

It was made so that the Manziel family wasn't personally liable for any trademark related litigation.

Johnny Unitas was, is, will ever be, Johnny Football. Therefore, it is reasonable to say that the family of Johnny Unitas could file against Manziel

A quick search about Johnny U doesn't come up with anything about that being his nickname. Beyond that, it's fair to say that unless he had a trademark filed, even if he did have that as a common law trademark, he's lost it by now.
