Who Owns The State Of Texas: The Longhorns, or The Aggies?

The Longhorns have long been the premier school in Texas, but with A&M's win over the national champion Bama, and their first ever Heisman trophy, it seems everyone in Texas is suddenly an Aggie fan.

I'm from the Dallas area and that is not the case.

I'm living in Houston right now and even with everything going for them right now, a&m fans are no where as obnoxious as UT fans. Seriously, I want to beat UT SO bad next year. They have a sense of superiority that is unrivaled. Especially for sucking so much.

Did UT really puss out of that rivalry because they were so sour A&M wouldn't be there bitch anymore?

aggies would like to think they do. but UT has and will own texas. aggies just get the scraps from the state

2nd Heisman, and A&M ruled from 85-95 also

Surprised with the level of truth up in here.
The best thing for A&M is for Mack to stay for a long while. He's lost his Midas touch and the longer he stays the deeper the hole gets for ut.

UT will always be perceived as being the premier program in Texas both instate and nationally. I have cousins who are Aggie alums and they will readily admit that as well.

I'm a Texas hater but Texas is Texas. A&M is A&M.

Put it this way...in the recent expansion, if he knew they would accept an invitation, who do you think Mike Slive would want/offer? Texas or Texas A&M?

SMU had their time in the sun back in the 80s.
TCU back in the 30s.
Houston back in the late 80s early 90s.
Texas has down periods like all programs allowing the lesser instate schools their time in the lime light, that time is now aTm's for the moment, but make not mistake the state of Texas is still belongs to the Longhorns not one of the many secondary schools.

Who "owns" the state in terms of what? UTex isn't "the" state university--we have two flagship systems (established by the state of Texas).
If you're talking about fandom in Texas, you're basically going to find two equally balanced groups on Thanksgiving: Aggies & Longhorns ... with Ags tending to be the more "George Bush Presidential Library" types, and horns being the "LBJ Presidential Library, gender neutral restrooms on campus" types. Regardless of how the sports teams are playing, half of the state will prob always be owned by A&M, and half will be owned by UTex.

We own the state right now.
Look at the Governor's office and much of the Texas power structure. An Aggie is on Texas's BOR and Perry is trying to ruin them with his 10k degree plan (not that I support that).
That result was inevitable as Texas is a very red state and A&M is a much more conservative school. We got to dump them and the kids for a reason. They will get back power in 25 years when whites are the minority in the state.
Athletically they are on top, but the SEC move changed the dynamic from Michigan/Michigan St. to UF/FSU.

It's UT, A&M is the flavor of the month. They will never surpass UT in popularity even if they win the next 100.

I think because of their presence in the SEC, it's aggies all the way.
