It's time to stop saying this. We had to play without him the past two seasons and we did just fine.

We're gonna win the East this year.

Vandy. Book it

Don't worry....Vandy is booking it out of town as we speak...

UGA has the all-world offense. UGA fans think that because their players return on offense, that it'll take a huge leaps-and-bounds stride forward from what it accomplished in 2012. I say that there's a chance that their offense will improve, but at best it'll be slight.

People say that when your offense or defense was terrible the previous season, that you "can only go up from there"....well UGA just had the greatest offensive production ever under Richt and possibly ever as a program. Perhaps they can only go down from 2012??? Remember, they still have clueless Bobo and passive Richt manning the sidelines, and Murray at the helm. And their defense will be entirely new: yes they have talent, but they had just as great talent last season PLUS veteran leadership and experience. Look where that got their defense...

Florida has the same questions on offense that UGA will have on defense: Not that they lost a lot of experience, but they did lose their leading RB, when the run offense was their most consistent aspect. They lose their leading receiver and 3 of their top 4, and they need consistency in their passing game. Perhaps the Gators can improve on O, but they could improve substantially and still only be middle of the pack in the SEC....

UF has some substantial losses on their defense as well: DT Floyd (13 starts), NT Hunter (13 starts), LBs McCray (12) and Bostic (13), SS Elam (13) and FS Evans (13). Again as with UGA, they have talent behind them, but nowhere near the experience...

South Carolina IMO is intriguing: We have lost as well both on offense and defense. But I still feel that like last season between USC, UGA, UF, and UT, we'll again have the best BALANCE offensively AND defensively for 2013. We were plagued with injuries at RB and QB last season, and had a fairly inexperienced OL. Still went 11-2 and had the highest-producing scoring offense in 8 years under Spurrier.

Enough of the key elements will return for '14, and our OL will have experience across the unit, that I feel we'll have an improved offense as long as we can stay healthier this time.

Defensively I expect a bit of a drop, but most likely only a spot or so, and if our young LB corps can improve quickly and acclimate themselves we could hardly skip a beat. A lot will be determined once spring camp has concluded, but I feel USC is as much a contender as anyone else in the East....

1.I'm gonna say Florida.Yeah they choked against UL but Driskel should be better and their D should be really good.I predict UF to win the East and go 11-1 with their only lose being to LSU.

2.I think that Georgia loses too much on D to beat UF.Their offense should be REALLY good though.I predict UGA to go 10-2 with loses to UF and LSU.

3.I think that USCe will lose three games unless one of their RBs really step up to fill the void that Lattimore will leave on offense.Clowney is probably good enough to keep them in about any game and their defense should be good.I may change my USCe prediction before the season starts depending on how well their RBs do in spring and fall camp.

I'm pretty sure that all 3 teams lost major pieces from their defense.

UGA should have the best offense out of the 3.
UF may have the best defense. But that's based on coaching and not returning personnel. So take it for what it's worth.

If any team chokes, it is South Carolina because they won't be able to run the football when it counts (3 rushing TDs in their last 4 games. That's good to win a bunch of games. But in the biggest games that matter, it will lead to them falling short). Being able to run the football team knows you are running is what separates those competing for SEC championships and those on the outside looking in.

USCjr's two backup running backs behind Lattimore, one of whom is Mike Davis, the other guy I forget his name, he redshirted last year but played behind Latty when his knee got ruint the first time...

Both of those guys averaged 5+ yards per carry. They both return for 2013.

I also think Connor Shaw is a beast. He's a quarterback that actually scares me. If he sat down at a bar near me, I'd close my tab and leave because I'd feel uncomfortable.

Other than Georgia, I think SC has the best offense in the East coming into 2013.

Clowney isn't the only playmaker on their defense either, he's just the best one.

Spurrier is a great coach too.

Everyone wants to talk about how good Mett or Driskel's second year starting is going to be.

I'm afraid of how good Connor Shaw's 2nd year is going to be.

The winner of the USCjr UGA game will win the East. I'm glad it's in Athens this year.

The other RB you're thinking of is Brandon Wilds. Right from Blythewood

Good writeup.

Florida or USC. UGA...while talented on offense, is gutted on a defense that allowed 350 yds LAST YEAR rushing to Bama....with a lot of folks gone (pundits are predicting eight UGA players drafted from defense and a lot of other def scrubs gone.
UF can run the ball down the dawgs throats and so will others...the LSU-UGA game is a pillow fight on def with both sustaining a lot of losses. UF lost some good players...but the numbers are still there and we rotated true frosh and second teamers..plus we have 2 JUCO DL (one from last yr who was injured quite a bit)to rotate. Our secondary has a lot of numbers. LB is actually not in bad shape...we have a lot of second teamers who could have started for a few SEC teams overall on our def.
UF-USC is in Columbia....thats a monster game.

You talking about Florida or Georgia?

Cuz we got 2 JUCO DL's too, and lot of numbers in secondary, 2nd teamers who'd start for other SEC teams, and alot of really good linebackers, including two who started every game last year, and accounted for half of all fumbles recovered by UGA D last year, and a corner who led the team in INT's last year...

Basically, we have a similar defensive situation, but for UGA it's a "rebuilding year" and for Florida it's "awesome".

Sounds like it's unanimous: the road to Atlanta for the SEC-East travels through South Carolina...

South Carolina's first 5 games: 11 rushing TDs

South Carolina's last 5 games: 5 rushing TDs

Rushing TDs have been the key ingredient to top level teams in the SEC the past 7 seasons.
More-so than defensive stats.

Based on 5 rushing TDs in 5 games, I'd predict you to have a similar season to UGA in 2011 (losing to all 4 big game opponents on the schedule).

You didn't win the East. I don't understand why saying losing the best RB in school history might have an impact on the offense is such a no-no.

Part of that had to do with the defensive schemes towards the end of the year. Clemson and Michigan sold out on the run and made us throw, resulting in some big plays in the passing game and not a lot of production in the ground game.
