Theyre more likely making excuses over there

Great game today and I'm very glad we got 2 out 3.

Gamecocks pitch their 2nd consecutive shutout and 3rd out of the past 4 games.

Gamecocks win 10-0 over Ball State. Honestly we out matched them all over and in every inning.

Pankake even got a HR.

The young guys all got to play and Fiori and Seddon had 2 really good innings, each striking out 2 batters. Koumas closed the game striking out 2 as well. Wynkoop gets the W allowing 2 hits and 0 runs.

Koumas
Whatever happened to him? I feel like a DA for forgetting but he got injured right? He did really well for us a couple years ago right? I just remember him pitching well down in Gville to take the series. Just wondering why he isn't in the weekend rotation. TIA

Jordan Montgomery out for at least the next two weeks.

Following Tuesday's game, coach Chad Holbrook said that Montgomery, the team's ace and Friday starter, will be sidelined for at least the next two weeks with a lower distal stress reaction in the humerus of his throwing arm, just above the elbow. The injury was revealed after an MRI and X-ray earlier on Tuesday, and came after Montgomery had complained over the previous weeks of irritation in the area, Holbrook said.

He had shoulder surgery in the off season, and I think they've been easing him back into things.

He'll miss the series with mizzou, and that's not a big deal, they're bad at baseball. However, Rider is 7-1 and gets up for the big games. They beat Manhattan in a series last year, and remember Manhattan made the NCAA regional in Columbia.

I've heard there could be a chance that Jordan won't be ready for the Arkansas series, which would be bad. Let's hope not...

And now Tanner suffers a shoulder injury today in the 2nd game vs Ball State, and Connor Bright is also dealing with an injury (a foot I think). Let's stop with all the injuries, please....

What happened to English?

on edit: @scotthood63: Holbrook said English "tweaked his shoulder" and USC is concerned about it. Frankly, doesn't sound good.

Dammit - at least it's early. Just hope we get these guys back at full strength. Could be some rough-trekking without Jordan, though.

It was a very minor injury like an ankle bruise or something, they said he could've played if he had to tonight.

Everything I've heard is that Jordan will miss 2 weeks (Rider & Mizzou) so that's good for us at least. Hopefully this is just not a recurring thing later on in the year.

The latest news is Evan Beal will be our Friday starter, and Colby and Nolan will keep their spots in the rotation.

Also Tanner had a MRI done on his shoulder, and there is no need for surgery. He's expected out for this weekend (we shouldn't need him), but should be back for Mizzou...

Tanner English does not need surgery on shoulder. Will not play Friday and is doubtful for rest of weekend. Should be ready for Missouri.

Shoot I'd almost rather be him out against Mizzou. They won their 1st game yesterday and are 2-6
Either way, glad its not too serious and we're getting him back sooner rather than later.

Another not very good outing from Holmes, hopefully he can bounce back next week @ Mizzou.

Gamecocks sweep Rider, winning game 3, 1-0. Belcher had a good game, the defense as a whole was solid.

I think Carson has got some quality playing time since he's been filling in for English. It's good to know we have depth.

A good win in tight fashion to help us when the always competitive SEC schedule begins....for not only our younger players but for our coaching staff as well. The hurler for Rider was very impressive, as was their pitching staff for the most part.

I agree about Shon: also once Tanner returns, Shon has made the biggest audition for DH thus far, IMO. T.J. has struggled mightily at the plate, while Shon has shown he can manufacture hits with his speed. If Costen and Payne continue to struggle, we look to have Shon and Curt Britt who can step up....
