I like the system at FSU. All student tickets are free actually (though $5 per ticket or whatever wouldn't be an issue). Tickets are released a couple of weeks ahead of time online in multiple "windows" that are assigned based on a point system. Grad students and seniors have the highest base points and it goes down from there. The real kicker though is if you attend non-rev or less popular school sports (soccer, baseball, volleyball, etc) you earn additional points.
I think this is a great system because you just don't sign up for games you're not going to attend due to a similar strike policy. Also eliminates freshmen getting screwed over with no control at all. If you really want to go, you drag your arse over to the women's volleyball game or w/e. Take a look at their student section. It shows... Even in a shite conference.
