The reality is if UTx wants in, they're in. No opinions are needed.

I'd be livid if I were an aggie and this happened. UT treats you like shite, so you leave and go do your own thing in a new conference, achieve incredible success, only to have those frickers show up and crash the party again.

There is an ongoing discussion on the Texas sites that they need to join the SEC.
So, what Texas site are you visiting? How many fans are discussing?
I'm pretty sure that I have contact with a lot more Texas fans than you and the general consensus is that the SEC is not a good fit for UT.
But Texas fans do agree that it was a good fit for A&M and we were glad to see you go. Aggies interpreted this as fear, like they had dominated Texas or something. No, it was like watching your obnoxious neighbors pack up their stuff and drive away. You were damn glad to be rid of them. There will be no more midnight yell practice in Austin and there will no longer be a parade of brown shirts on Congress Ave on game day.
So why have you good SEC folk allowed aggy to control the message over here? If SEC is nirvanna-land for college sports, why the need to constantly inject Texas in your conversation. I understand Aggies doing it - they will be looking over their shoulders for the next 20 years wondering about "tu".
But Texas is never going to be a member of the SEC so forget it.

They wouldn't want in.

There's no need to bring a school like Texas into the SEC at this point. Especially considering their TV network and the way it would work monetarily. I would much rather have Florida State, Virginia Tech, Duke, UNC, Clemson, or NC State.
And I don't see what joining the SEC had to do with A&M's success this year. They had the heisman-winning QB. If Texas had finished the year with 1 loss they would have still been ranked higher than A&M.
