The BBQ thread inspired this one: if Guy Fieri came to your SEC town, which restaurants would he visit?
Guidelines for those who haven't seen the show:
Has to be relatively cheap: under $20 a meal
Three spots in each town.
Athens:
Cali N Tito's - Cuban place on Lumpkin. Great sandwiches.
Clocked- probably the best burgers in Athens. Lots of really cool combinations.
Last Resort- incredible American style food. GREAT cheesecake.

Love that show.
I would think Niffer's(burger joint), Cock of the Walk(fish and they throw cornbread across the room), and Buffulo Connection(wings).
They did a show in Columbia, SC. once.

Would chase him away with a broom.
1. City Cafe: Great breakfast/meat and three type place.
2. Archibalds: The gold standard when it comes to BBQ in Tuscaloosa.
3. 5: Great concept, great food, not terribly expensive.

Is that the place that has 5 apps, 5 entrees, 5 drinks? We just got one in Athens if those are the same.

Yeah they're both owned by the same folks who own Chuck's (Birmingham/Tuscaloosa) and Harbor Docks in Destin.
If you haven't already tried it, I highly recommend it.

I definitely will. I haven't been back to Athens since I graduated in December but next time I go up for a weekend I'll check it out.

I think Guy would have to make Weaver D's one of those from Athens... "Automatic for the people"

He's been to Hullabaloo diner in CS on the show I believe. Fargo's in Bryan and Chicken Oil would be two other good ones

Baton Rouge:
Louie's Cafe- It's an LSU institution, and one of the best breakfasts you can get in the Red Stick. A great place to fix up a hangover after a long day and night of tailgating.
Roma's Pizza- Ok, technically it's not in Baton Rouge proper, but well worth the drive out Airline. The owner Omar is from Brooklyn and has his dough shipped in to help create some of the best NY style pizza in South Louisiana.
Chelsea's Cafe- If you can find it, tucked away under an overpass off Perkins it's worth the stop. You can get your fix of seafood/creole style food in one of the more delightful atmospheres in the Baton Rouge area. Plus live music after the restaurant closes.

When my wife and I were in Athens last year for a baseball series one weekend, Weaver Ds was closed. Was disappointed.
Enjoyed Clocked, though.

I'm not the biggest fan of weaver D's. I think it's overrated but some people swear by it. Always thought Peaches was better.

Been to Weaver D's once. It was pretty good, but nothing great. That said, southern comfort food is never really what I crave.
Clocked was good but I was kind of disappointed based on the Hype I kept hearing. Maybe I should have been more adventurous when picking out a burger though.
Cali and Titos was a great choice, one of my favorite places.
ETA: Adding Mamas Boy breakfast. Really crowded on weekend mornings but worth the wait.
Also, the Royal Peasant is a really cool English pub with great beer and awesome pub food.

I doubt he would go to this one. Doesn't he only visit local (not chain) establishments? I mean, I love thier catfish, but it's a Mississippi restaurant.
And I'm new to my SEC college town area. What are the places he would go to in Nashville? Cause I'm looking for some good places too.

Fleur is pretty damn good too. It's a worthy substitute.

Mama's Boy is pretty good but I don't think the food is worth the pretentious wait staff. They're all super hipster and have never been friendly.

they already came to Columbia and made a good choice going to Pawley's Front Porch. Great burgers there.

X2 for the Royal Peasant. Their porch is a great place to grab a bite and a beer when it's warm out.
White Tiger over off Boulevard is a pretty good place too. I don't know if they supply all of the food you can get at the Theatre but it's definitely their barbeque and it's damn good.

I'm gonna throw the White Tiger in the mix, too. If yall haven't been there yet, I strongly suggest you do.
