Billy's just old school. He doesn't put up with prima donnas and grinds the crap out of his players. That's why he was great at rebuilding but not at taking over programs that already had some momentum. Honestly when he went to Kentucky I thought it might end up being the basketball version of losing Bryant to Bama. The light was shined too brightly on him there though and people didn't like the way the sausage was made and it all blew up on him.

Think of what would have happened to Bear if he pulled a Junction Boys today, he would have been sent to prison. A guy like BG or Bear needed to have complete control in order for their system to work. Unfortunately BG got frustrated and turned to the bottle too much and now the goods are just too damaged. I could still see some small program that has been terrible forever hiring him and seeing him build a winner. The guy is a brilliant basketball mind and his former players from A&M that made it through his rebuilding process think of him like a God.

As do many Aggie fans.

To say that basketball is his obsession would be an understatement, not all obsessions are healthy.
