Go to a good gun store and talk to someone there. It's like driving a car. What works well and sits well in your hand varies from person to person, and you won't know until you get the feel of it. You can't shoot a gun very well that doesn't feel right in your hands either.

This is what I was thinking. I'm probably going to get my brother to go with me and help me pick one out. I mainly want one that isn't extremely heavy or big (can fit in my purse), and is easier for someone with smaller hands to handle.

I'm thinking that I like the semi automatics better than the revolvers. I just need to do some research and see what I really want.

Good advice

If you have a gun range close enough that rents firearms then go and rent several taht interest you and try them all

Just don't get caught up in the "you are a woman, you need a small caliber"

Most modern semi-autos are very manageable

I would suggest going no smaller than a 9mm (JMO)
