And they don't take Women's gymnastics into the Women's standings, or we would've had it last year

It seems screwy, but I'm OK with this.

If we could just turn the corner in basketball I think we'll have that cup in our hands.

Meh. They need to weight the sports based on participation. For example...basketball should be worth the most because literally everyone has a team. Conversely, water polo shouldn't be worth much at all because it is almost exclusively played on the West coast.

Totally disagree. Just because parts of the country have teams doesn't make them competitive... For parts of the country that have football but their dominant sport is Lacrosse, for example, those teams would never have a chance of winning.

Princeton, UNC, Johns Hopkins, Virginia, and Syracuse have won every NC in Lacrosse since 1978. 5 different winners in over 3 decades. By contrast, 19 different programs have been winners of the men's basketball tournament since 1978. 21 programs have been awarded an AP, UPI, or BCS NC in FBS football since 1978.
I realize it wouldn't necessarily be fair to penalize a school for being good at more obscure or regional sports, but I just don't feel right saying that Syracuse dominating the 12 other viable lacrosse programs is as impressive as Kentucky besting the 350 other men's basketball programs or Bama besting the other 120 FBS football programs.

The amount of money it takes for a team like Alabama to beat all of those other schools is insane. Most schools NEVER have a chance. So while they win against more teams, the number of viable teams that can actually compete with the elite college football teams isn't that different than the way in which lacrosse is set up.
I mean, do you honestly think that 120 FBS schools are viable competition when in the SEC alone, the teams that have won championships is limited to the traditional powerhouses?

Alabama got 20 points for gymnastics.

Just wanted to point out within the past three years, there have been two different winners that are not one of these five schools, but I do understand your overall point.
