LSU/Alabama isn't a rivalry in the same sense that the other SEC rivalries are. It's a rivalry in that we regularly compete with divisional, conference and national championships on the line, get into recruiting battles, etc. but it lacks the historical relevance of more established rivalries. Alabama's that team we have to beat to win the title, not that team we hate.

(I use "we" somewhat loosely; I don't really "hate" any other teams. I mean the fanbase as a whole.)

8x2 just means you have eight-team divisions. Basically it'd be moving Missouri to the West (where they belong) and adding the two North Carolina schools to the East, to make two eight-team divisions. After that each one needs a permanent rival to preserve some of the big rivalries (Alabama/Tennessee, Auburn/Georgia, etc.), so I reassigned permanent rivals with that in mind.

The pod makes sense as far as dividing up rivalries and areas. But past that, yeah... Seems pretty dumb to be honest.

UT has won a football NC more recently than two of your big six.

Eta: and unless I'm wrong has WAY.... More SEC championships than one. Both recent and throughout time.

It's a 5 year window. The big 6 is a living, breathing document and will be adjusted accordingly.

Speaking of UT, move them and Mizzou to the West, with Auburn and 2 new schools in the East. It would be a big change for Vols fans though, so give them the Gators every year, and LSU can shut the fruck up about playing them finally.

What about

Bama
Auburn
UT
Vandy

LSU
Arky
A&M
Mizzou

Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
VT

USC
UNC
Ole Miss
Miss State

Not as good as:

NW:
Alabama (Tenn)
Auburn (UGA)
Missouri (Arkansas)
MSU (Ole Miss)

SW:
LSU (Florida)
A&M (USC)
Arkansas (Missouri)
Ole Miss (MSU)

NE:
Tennessee (Alabama)
Va Tech (A&M)
NC (USC)
Vanderbilt (KY)

SE:
Florida (LSU)
UGA (Auburn)
USC (NC)
Kentucky (Vandy)

This one balances out the traditionally great teams into more different divisions, preserves most of the traditional rivalries and distributes the weaker teams (OM, MSU, Vandy, KY) evenly between the different divisions.

I hear nothing of this sentiment, let alone alot. UNC is an awful match for SEC, in every athletic and non-athletic way.

Wasn't even going there, but since you did, there are many more where that one came from. The SEC didn't invent cheating, the ACC has had their fair share and the Big Ten leads the world - infractions handed down may not be indicative of the crimes in other conferences.

LSU-Bama definitely isn't as big of a rivalry as the media makes it out to be, which is weird considering how long they've played each other.
What? They haven't played long at all! The Auburn/UGA rivalry started 100 years before they started playing regularly, and the Bama/Tenn started 90 years before they started playing regularly.

I think adding 4 teams now is a pipe dream. I think IF we even add any teams now, it will be two acc teams. What would make sense for the 16 Team SEC is 2 Eight Team divisions.

That 4 team pod thing is crazy and would be bitched about forever. What would seem logical would be to move Mizzou to the SECw and add a VA and NC team to the SECe.

So I have seen a lot of talk about a 4 team pod not being an option. This may sound stupid, but would it be to weird to have permanent 4 team pods, with the divisions changing every year? Like the first year, pod A and pod B are in one division. The next year pod A and pod C are in the same division.

That way, instead of having a mini playoff system in the SEC and ruining teams chances of making the final 4, we can just have 2 teams play for the SEC championship like we do now, but this way also everyone will get to play each other much sooner. In 3 years if you rotate every year, or every 6 if you rotate every 2 years.
