Travel curfew may have cost the Dores the first loss of the season. LBS started strong (9 of their 13 were scored by the end of 3) but VU was getting back in (7 of their 9 were scored after 3) as the game progressed. Still took 2 of 3 but a sweep would have been nice. Took the series with the Ducks @ Eugene which was a nice non conference road win

This team has the potential to be stellar. Unlike last year, we bring back over 70% of our starting innings pitched with only Selman leaving and Ziomek, TJ, and Beede being our new rotation. Those three could be one of the best rotations this year. Beede has been praised for his development over the summer and in fall ball, so I am extremely excited to see strong pitching across the entire weekend. Our pen is as deep as it has ever been, and the Millers should continue to be outstanding.
Our fielding should not be an issue either. The team's inexperience showed last year with far too many errors, especially for a Corbin-coached team. My only real worry is at the bat, and hopefully the we've improved production over the year. I'm not sure. Long Beach will be a great bellwether. Solid pitching with below average hitting. It lets us test our hitting abilities without worrying about coming back from huge deficits. We'll know a lot more in a month, but I'm optimistic this team will be making a run in Hoover and should be hosting a regional.
