What about when your offense is dreadful?

We will still manage to carve certain teams up with mediocre to bad defenses, see Georgia 2011 and Bama 2012

Yeah I know, I'm just saying as of right now there's nothing to really point to for why UF would be better than UGA next year.

That is being kind

Well, we'll start 4 major starters from this year, as well as about 5 more that have all seen loads of PT. The talent definitely isn't the question, they're just young.

we won't.

Sure, they could. But I don't think they will.

In all seriousness if the SEC wins the last BCSCG (pre playoffs) the final tally will be:

SEC - 10
Big 12 - 2
ACC - 1
Big 10 - 1
Big East - 1
Pac 10 - 0

That's pretty amazing.

Yup. And with 5 different schools (so far).

The Big XII had 3 different schools play for the title but Nebraska didn't win.

You dont konw that anymore than I do regardless of your connections in Athens.

UGa gots a tough start @CU, USCe, UNT, LSU...UGA could have a great team and be 1-3.

I was talking specifically about Georgia.

Obviously, it's been quite a while since many of us LSU fans have been very excited about many of our returning offensive starters.

If something happens to Jeremy Hill or Mettenberger, I may jump off a cliff.

Maybe.

Florida had the worst passing offense in the SEC. 114th in the nation. 146 yards/game.

LSU clocked in at 92nd in the nation. 200 yards/game.

They did outgain us by 15 yards per game on the ground though.

Florida also scored 27 more points in conference games.

But yes, both LSU and Floria have very anemic offenses.

I don't know.

Alabama is due for a complacent year like 2010. I just don't know when it will hit. If it's an off year next year, I would just be bummed because it wasn't 4 in 5 years. And honestly, to complain about that is just gross and excessive.

Part of me thinks Les does the best when he's digging out of a hole and he'll find a way to surprise everyone and squeak up the ranks. Then half of me thinks he won't. He's just way too unpredictable.

When good coaches or good teams have a lopsided pattern (like Richt in big games) against other good teams, I tend to have the take a strike mentality. Until they pass the hurdle, I usually bet against them. Once they've been able to pass the hurdle, even once, it's another story. (Same way I felt about Petrino vs Alabama every year).

Florida could sneak by with another season of close wins. But all of those wins could go the other way too. They played like shite. But they could come out and kill it.

Tennessee and Auburn. No.

That's part of my reasoning.

I think A&M sneaks into the title game in large part to their easy schedule and a "down" year by Bama. "Down" by Bama standards, that is. I don't see LSU surprising anyone next year though we might pull an upset of Bama off. Hell, maybe Ole Miss will upset Bama in 2013. They've been known to make certain teams their Super Bowl and then choke against say Vandy.

I think the Tide will lose to A&M and one other team -- probably LSU. It'll be our Super Bowl but we'll lose to Georgia and A&M so we won't be able to cash in on the win and Bama fans will just say it wasn't their year anyway so it didn't really matter.

On second thought, I'll say the Aggies stub their toes in Oxford. That'll be the Ole Miss Super Bowl. Ole Miss might beat us too but I'll say they definitely upset Johnny Football. Aggies still get to Atlanta though by virtue of winning all the rest of their regular season SEC games.

But I sure as hell wouldn't bet any actual money against Bama at this point.

I think Alabama is more likely to lose to LSU at home than A&M away.

Alabama has a bye before A&M, and Saban really does hate to lose to a coach two times in a row.

If you look at Manziel, the thing about him that's so vexing is that you think you have him and he scraps and scrambles to make plays. If they figure out how to make first contact more effective and keep him contained in the first quarter, I think he'll have a more difficult time.

Ole Miss always plays Alabama tough. But they've only won 8 games against Alabama ever.

Best shot? Bama
Most explosive? ATM
Consistent enough to have a shot? Georgia

We say it every year, but I think a non-SEC team wins it all. OSU should go undefeated, and maybe another surprise team out of the ACC/Pac 12/Big 12. Nobody in the SEC is going undefeated

People underestimate how difficult to go undefeated in a BCS conference. We hear about these Armageddon scenarios every year yet there has only been one time when we've had more than two undefeated teams from a BCS conference. Well, it happened in 2009 as well but nobody takes the Big East seriously. In the last seven years, there have been only two BCS NCG matchups featuring two undefeated teams. The odds are pretty good that we'll have another one-loss team from the SEC playing in the NCG next year.

Actually, Saban has traditionally been very mediocre (by his standards) after a bye week.

2000- Beats Bama 30-28
2001- Loses to Tennessee 26-18
2002- Beats Mississippi State 31-13
2003- Loses to Florida at home 19-7
2004- Beats Troy 24-20
2007- Loses to LSU 41-34
2008- Beats Ole Miss 24-20
2009- Beats LSU 24-15
2010- Loses to LSU 24-21
2011- Loses to LSU 9-6
2012- Beats Missouri 42-10

That's a 6-5 record in bye weeks and only two of those wins were by double digits. I see Bama beating LSU pretty comfortably next year. LSU is just losing too much talent. Texas A&M's the only team with a good shot at beating Bama in the regular season IMO.

Curiously, LSU hasn't lost back to back games at Alabama since 1978/1980.

At Alabama though, the only game he's lost after byes have been to LSU. Don't know if that's LSU or the bye. And given how tired they were after they played LSU, I think a bye would have helped.
