Yea, now it's just looking like he is a complete dumbass who lied about a fake relationship (not like he didn't think she was real but that the relationship with the fake person wasn't real- it's hard to follow I know) and exploited her death for personal gain. It's totally better this way right?

Interesting.

The South Bend Tribute cites sources close to the program as saying the investigation was limited to an electronic search only and included no interviews with Te'o, his family or anyone else involved in the case, including Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, the man accused by Te'o of being the mastermind of the hoax.

The report also said investigators did not examine cell phone records, e-mails or other electronic communication to determine any details Te'o's communication over the past few years with the person claiming to be Lennay Kekua, nor did the university ask Te'o to take a lie detector test.

The primary evidence upon which Notre Dame officials appeared to make their determination that Te'o was the victim of the hoax came from a group of tweets uncovered by the investigators that included a discussion about Te'o being the victim of a "catfish" scheme, a reference to a documentary and television series of the same name involving online identity fraud.
