I dont think he's a bad coach, I just think he's an underachiever. I think the offense will be good again like it was this year but as I've already posted, I also think their defense, which struggled this year, will have significant growing pains next year. It will be enough of a liability to lose games against lesser competition. 4-4 really isn't as crazy as you guys are making it sound, tougher conference schedule too.

I could see losing 4 games, but they would be USC, Clemson, LSU, and Florida. So 3 conference losses and that would be a bad season where we beat no good teams.
Auburn will still suck for the time being. Vanderbilt actually loses a lot. Franklin has the program as a whole moving in the right direction, but they lose a few guys that will be hard to replace. UGA might also be the worst possible matchup on Vandy's schedule with the offensive firepower.

Richt's SEC record when his QB is in his 3rd+ year starting or is a RS SR (Murray qualifies for both this year)
2004: 6-2 w/ Greene at QB and BVG at DC.
2005: 6-2 (only 11 games) w/ Shockley at QB and Martinez at DC. 1 loss was to UF w/o Shockley. So, 6-1
2008: 6-2 w/ Stafford at QB and Martinez at DC
2009: 3-5 w/ Joe Cox at QB and Martinez at DC
2012: 7-1 w/ Murray at QB and Grantham at DC
A combined record of 28-11, well above .500, w/ the outlier coming in '09 when a RS SR Joe Cox took over for #1 pick Stafford on an offense that also lost #12 pick Knowshon, which was supplemented by a Willie Martinez defense. It shouldn't even be included in the stat b/c its so different.
Point being, neither Joe Cox nor Willie Martinez is walking through that door.
v. USCe - toss up
v. LSU - W
@ UT - W
v. Mizzou - W
@ Vandy - W - let's be honest here, Murray and Gurshall toyed w/ their D last year.
v. UF - toss up
@ AU - W - we've seen Malzahn's offense w/o Cam or DMac, take a look back at Auburn '11. I'm frightened.
v. UK - W
