It's the high-end recruiting game. Most major programs will take risks with top flight recruits.

The kid is a stud and getting out of FL should be good for him. With the players left on our board it just isn't worth the risk/hassle/etc.

You don't get it. In the SEC, you only get to accept 25 sign LOIs per year calendar year. We have a bunch of early enrollees that count to last year (since last year's class was so small), but we can only accept 25 signed LOIs (not counting the midterm guys) next month. That's it. We are already at 25, with two commits whose grades will cause us not to accept their LOI, and another that will probably play MLB. At most, we have room for three more, and we have some serious, serious talent still looking at us, and we have a bunch of incredible receivers already in this class. I can promise you that our staff would not be wasting time with Stevens unless they believed he had a VERY good chance to qualify.
