Exactly. Goes hand in hand with what I'm saying. Is it impossible to win with 3/4 stars? Nope. Is it easier with 4/5 stars? Yes.

Would our class make me feel all warm and fuzzy if we were in the Sunbelt? Yes.

You guys are continuously arguing with my premise that we need to do better on recruiting. Everyone seems to be suggesting that we can't.

I think a school that borders the state that produces the second highest number of NFL players should probably recruit that state pretty hard. And if that school also wants to recruit the state that produces the 3rd number of NFL players, even better.

Why?

Because you defend MA so adamantly, I can't help but wonder if you know him. The fact that you don't respond kinda says it all.

I don't think anyone's denying it

Will we compete with the big programs with continuous 30th ranked recruiting classes? Unless we have Petrino I think most would agree with you

However most expect to have higher ranked classes next year and the years following that. Then we can talk about competing with Auburn, A&M, etc. Notice how no one is saying that right now

Great class? No
Good class? Yes, absolutely

Needs:

Linebacker: Thin area on team. Signed 3
Cornerback: Thin and bad on roster. Signed 4
Safety: Not as thin, but need quality. Signed 2
DLine: not real thin. Signed #1 player in Arkansas, top DT in Missouri, added depth at DEnd.

QB: Need bad. Signed Tim Tebow
RB: Not a big need. Signed Juan Day. Top RB in AR
OLine: Need Depth. Delivered and then some. Signed #1 player in Missouri, #3 player out of Minnesota, Top 30 OT, #8 JUCO OT.
TE: Need. Only signed one. Could have used one more.
WR: Big Need. Delivered. #31 player out of Louisiana, JoJo, WR with range in Edwards, and a possession guy with height in Hollister.
K: Huge Need: Signed the best in nation. Parade All American

don't be that guy.

I got accused of being friends with Jeff Long many times on Hogville, it's the ultimate give-up in an argument.

In ocelot's world, if you support an Arkansas coach you must be a friend or relative.

I supported the frick out of Petrino.

But in, seemingly, everyone else's world casting doubt about LITERALLY ANYTHING means you're a debbie downer/a-hole/moron.

Funny. Doesn't seem to be the case. Reading comprehension is in short supply these days to some of our posters.

I would hope so.

Who is saying we will compete/ win a good amount of games against the big guys? I don't think I've seen anyone say that

we will play a ton better against them than last year but I don't really expect to win too many of them. MSU and Ole Miss? Yeah I think we can compete and beat them. Possibly Missouri but they're a big unknown. I feel like that would be closer to the consensus on this board...

When have any of you known me to give up on an argument? I'm the reason this thread is flying.

You still mad about the long thread where you showed you do not understand basketball well enough to understand what Mike does on the court?

BTW: I doubt you got to watch tonight's game, Kingsley and Portis were on the court at the same time a lot, it was horrible, Kingsley doesn't need more than 12 minutes a game until he develops further. Williams at the 4 with Portis at the 5 was a much better combo.

Is that not the point of recruiting? Does recruiting not strike at the heart of winning those games?

To simply say, "it's a good class," completely ignores how it relates to the classes of our competition.

Let's say we had the same commits we have, same ranking...everything.

BUT - we were somehow the #1 ranked SEC class. An alternate universe where the 10 schools in front of us just completely sucked and we were on top. I would feel a lot better because our competition wouldn't have this advantage over us. I think we all would.

okay but, like we've said a shite ton of times, we went 3-9. You're not going to sign a class to compete with them after a year like that. It'll take time

I don't feel like breaking down every SEC class, I know ours hit the majority of our immediate needs while providing depth for the future.

I know Florida needed some LBs in this class, they signed none.

I know Tennessee used scholarship from next year's class for this year.

I know half of this year's bama class will be gone in 2 years.

I know aTm is riding the hype pretty high, but they will have a tough task on the field next year.

I know UGA pulled in another solid class, yet they don't win the SEC that often anymore either.

I know LSU signed the #1 WR, but do not have a QB to get him the ball, good thing they got the #1 overall and RB, must be nice to have that kind of in state talent a couple hours from campus.

My apologies if you guys have beaten this to death but question for y'all. How hard does Arkansas recruit Texas? I think I saw y'all had 2 commits from Texas, one being a kicker. I really would have thought you guys would hit Texas a lot harder. Was it just a matter of missing out on a few kids or has BB just not put the emphasis on Texas yet?

I know Mizzou shifted it's focus to the southeast and only got 2 Texas commits as well but I figured with your proximity to the state that you'd have 6-10 out of there each year.
