I think I'm going to say league title. It's a more accurate indicator of a team's success.

League Title and there shouldn't even be an argument.

Whichever one we win

We have 24 league titles and only 7 tourney titles
So, after posting facts, league > tourney

no you don't. SWC doesn't count on the SEC rant, if Arkansas spent their entire existence in the SEC they would have less than a quarter of the NCAA appearances they have now.

League title is the better indicator of how strong the team is. But the tournament title can be a good sign of who's peaking at the right time before the NCAA tournament.
I'd rather have the league title, but would take the tournament win too.

Nothing matters about college basketball until March. - 2011 UConn Mens Basketball Team (2011 9th place in Big East) (2011 National Champions)

We might actually have more if that were the case

please explain. most of your appearances come from a time when each league only had one tournament representative. You were NEVER going to beat out UK for that spot.

We won the league in our first year, but yea we would never have beaten UK. Ever
Discounting Arkansas' basketball history because we've had an awful decade or so is lol worthy.

It depends, if it is an unbalanced schedule, the tournament is the only "fair" way to judge who is best in the conference.
If the conference plays a true round robin, then the league title is the unidisputed best team in the conference.

He's saying you can claim SWAC titles until the cows come home but it's for naught because it won't eclipse UK's 47 regular season championships. Derp.

To answer your OP, league titles. It's easy to drop one in the SEC Tournament if you run up against a hot team or better yet one that has nothing to lose. The '96 Cats, who several would argue is one of the best college teams ever, lost in the SEC Tournament to State who went on to be a Final Four team and was beat by UK in the regular season. UK went undefeated in regular season conference play and won the regular season title despite a huge target on their back.

Whichever one that Kentucky wins or in a year they don't win either (apparently it happens), the one they say, because seriously, it is Basketball.

He was saying we would have never been able to compete with UK had we been in the SEC, which is false. Derp.

Of course it depends on what you're considering important too. If I'm a SEC team who has played like shite majority of the season then the SEC Tournament is as important as it gets.

I tend to agree with this in so far as it relates to the top 3-4 teams and the unbalanced schedule that is in play this year.
