Here's how you solve the "permanent opponent" crap:
1. Use the PAC 12 model (all the California schools play each other every year, the other schools rotate). This way, Alabama and Tennessee always play, Auburn and Georgia always play, and Arkansas and Missouri always play. Everyone else rotates all of their inter-divisional games. Which brings me to:
2. Go to a 9-game conference schedule. Let's face it: Every SEC team has at least one FCS school on their schedule every year. This would remove that. The only argument I could see against this is that it would likely reduce the number of bowl-eligible teams. The simple solution to that, of course is to REDUCE THE NUMBER OF BOWLS.
