There are plenty of questions about him but if he turns it over less than 3 times per game he'll be an improvement over Sanchez and that would've been enough to get the Jets in the playoffs this year.
Greg has the highest QBR of any Jets QB. The problem is that he has a very limited sample size. He has only played in the preseason last year (thumb injury, surgery, IR all season, basically a redshirt year) and a limited preseason (Tebow) this year. He has been active for only 1 game this year, and that was Arizona where he was inserted in the 4th quarter and led the Jets to a win. His reward was he was inactive for the Titans game. If he had been active, I have no doubt he could have again led the Jets to victory if Rex had put him in after 3 interceptions by Sanchez. The Jets would still be in the hunt for a playoff spot if they had won.
Greg has been successful with every opportunity he has been given. Gmac makes much better decisions than Sanchez, and I have no doubt he will not throw into triple coverage.
Sanchez in his fourth year is still making rookie mistakes. That is really an indictment on the Jets organization. Sanchez had success his first 2 years as a game manager, now the Jets are asking him to do more with much less talent.
If Tebow had not gone to the Jets, and Gmac was the backup QB,(and had played against the Titans and led then to a second win) then the Jets would still be in the hunt for the playoffs.
