Spoke to a big12 ref he was a defenseless player and not within range to make the play. Also the tackle was taking place at the time of the hit.

Going by that he should have been flagged for a personal foul on the field. The SEC has set the president it can suspend after the game.

a) He was tackled before the ball carrier was tackled.
b) He was determined to be within the range of the play, and he was considered to be a defender.
c) The word is precedent, not president.
