Also, keep this in mind. Oklahoma lost to USC 55-19 in 2004, Ohio State lost to Florida 41-14 in 2006 and Florida lost to Nebraska 62-24 in '95. Oklahoma and Ohio State finished the season third in the polls while Florida finished second. Those three games were three of the most vicious beatings you'll ever see on a football field and none of the teams that lost dropped lower than third in the polls. There's no way Notre Dame drops out of the top 5 no matter how badly they lose.

I agree. The one thing different this year is the common opponent strength of the SEC. With one loss, the computer will really knock on ND, and since Bama had very close games with LSU and UGA, who had very close games or were beaten by USC, and UF, I would think that this would be the year to do it.
