2009 Ole Miss... overachieved in 2008, beat the SEC champ on their field, went to the Cotton Bowl. Expectations shot through the roof for them in 2009 and they were the hot team going into the 2009 season. But they did not meet those expectations in 2009, perhaps because the players could not handle the success from 2008 or the pressure of the expectations in 2009.

Could Texas A&M be just like that in 2013?

2009 Ole Miss had the 2008 Heisman Trophy Winner? Crazy.

Yeah, Jevon Snead didn't win the Heisman and Sumlin isn't Nutt.

Of course. They could lose to Ole Miss, LSU, Bama, and one another game in there.

They DO lose some key pieces from this year's team, though.

No. aTm does not come to Columbia and have their season dismantled in 2013, like what we did to Ole Miss in '09. Norwood lit up Snead all night, it was the birth of Sandstorm at the stadium, and probably one of the loudest environments there in its history.

I think there are a lot of parallels here.

A&M, like Ole Miss in 2008, was playing with house money, there were no expectations or pressure.

The expectations will be there for A&M this upcoming season, something some of these players had in 2011 but could not deal with, starting the year at #8 but going 6-6 despite a lot of talent.

I guess the question is how will the A&M players handle the success and expectations? Will they take the success for granted or not?

TAMU doesn't have Houston Nutt as their head coach, so no.

Those 2008 and 2009 teams were very talented football teams. They had no business losing to Wake Forest, Vandy, Auburn, or South Carolina (twice).

Beating Florida in the Swamp and LSU in Death Valley is nice, and at the time definitely makes up for the losses, but looking back on it makes me conclude that we, in fact, underachieved during those years.

Sumlin doesn't underachieve. So, no, they won't be like us in 2009.

More like 2012 Arky. Maybe not that bad but 6-6 type of team... you'll see. Is who they are.

We had a poor O-Line in 2009. Lost some valuable players after the 2008 season. I expected 9-4. I didn't buy into all that hype stuff.
