Yes but this is theory, not known, most importantly not known by Saban himself. Again, I can't imagine him leaving UA, but if he did, I think this would be why. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, I guess you're right on the why. It just doesn't make much sense to me. He's got the money and the recognition of an NFL coach, and he gets to do it in the area where he's most comfortable. But I'm not Nick Saban, so maybe he really would want to try the next level again.

Cliff notes?

The consensus is Saban isn't leaving. The adult conversation is, if he did leave, what would be the reason. 16 pages of flame/troll intermixed.

Cliff note edit:
The possible GM is a friend of Sabans and would have him as a 'target'. That is pretty much it.

I hope Saban leaves. He either retires at bama or goes to the nfl fails out and retires. It's his call, hopefully he chooses to not go out on top.

"CFB is just a business...he has to look after himself". Odd, that was not the perspective when one of your former HC's bailed on you. I have pictures of his bobble head toy hanging from a noose in downtown T town. That coach was hated & vilified when he did just what Saban, and many other coaches, have done to "look out for #1".

i'm still holding out hope for Saban to want to be the guy who won a BCS title at 3 different schools in one conference

To be fair, a coach leaving by yelling 'bye' out the window of a moving airplane is a different thing. One of the most classless moves in modern coaching.

"Do we have to post the article by Terry Saban again?". We heard several quotes similar to this when she was here. Sorry to deflate that balloon as being meaningful.

Other fans commonly misunderstand the reasons for the anger. Few Alabama fans blamed him for leaving, given the sanctions that the school was facing. He'd said "hold the rope" to all sorts of players convincing them to stay, and then he left without telling them to their face.

THAT is why Alabama fans were so upset. The players were tearing down his picture and crumpling it up.

This would make more sense to me. Maybe not same conference but going to UT (Longhorn type) where he could have them at BCS CG level in a year or two.

Nicky had complete control with the Fins. That was his main bargaining point over the Bears' job. There, he would not have had it. With the Fins, he had it all. The Brees' fasco was not his only mistake there by any means, even tho he threw the team physicians under the bus & blamed them.
