All I am saying is that when looking for a head coach...the ones that do well are the ones that had better records when they shouldn't have. There is no reason Tedford should have 30 more wins than losses at Cal. The academic standards are higher than most schools, they were playing against top 5 teams consistently with USC and Pete Carrol, and the Joey Harrington Oregon period.

If you are quick to cast him off look at some of the records at previous schools for coaches prior to coming to the SEC.

34-24-1 at Michigan State (Saban)
28-21 at OK State (Les Miles)
20-13 at Duke (Steve Spurrier)
25-20 at Ole Miss (Tommy Tubberville)(not really prior to SEC but prior to getting the Auburn job)
25-14-1 at Texas A&M (Bear Bryant)

Good coaches find ways to win when they shouldn't and you don't need a coach that has a crazy high winning% to be successful in this league.

I am not super high on Tedford, I was merely using him as an example of a type of coach that Tenn should be looking at. Forget the "name", look at the coaching ability.

Either way, I don't give two squats about Tennessee's football program, was just trying to start up some conversation.
