I hate Slive for his hand in the SEC expansion

Slive wasn't looking to expand the SEC from 12 teams (unlike Delaney and Scott, both of whom wanted to get to 12 so their conferences could have a CCG).

But when a flagship university within the 2nd largest state in the US is interested in joining (and isn't trying to call the shots in the process), you have to at least bring the offer to the other university presidents/chancellors to gauge their interest.

And even with an odd number of schools (13) the SEC was still happy and willing to make it work (after all, the B1G worked with 11 schools and no divisional alignment for several years) and not pushing to make it 14. But we got to 14 with Mizzou.

If VT, NC State, or someone else wants in, we'll take a look to see what they bring to the table. If they would be good additions and we get to 15 or 16, fine; if not, our 14 will sit back and rake in the dough.

So far I'm seeing the the same phrases being thrown around but nobody has shown that the SEC is currently making more money. I think CBS has not upped the contract, and I don't know about ESPN.

If neither networks are paying more money and the bowl money will be roughly the same.....

Assuming teams made 15mil last year(I think that;s in the ballpark), they would now be making under 13mil this year by splitting 14 ways.
