That would actually be 1997, but it was completely different with Mike Dubose. Dubose was a DC for one season. One. Before taking over as headcoach for a scholarship riddled program that had never really capitalized on the 1992 national title, or even the 1994 success.

I would wait to see what Saban has to say. If Saban promotes Smart as his successor, then who am I to dispute it? If it happened tomorrow, I would defer, and fully support Smart.
What Saban has to say--or not say--about it is key.
