In the BCS era? I believe so. However, Alabama and Notre Dame have met before in a bowl game. The 1973 Sugar Bowl.

Undefeated Stanford played undefeated Alabama in the 1927 Rose Bowl, but I believe Stanford wasn't called the Cardinal back then.

You also have to remember that Bama has been to 250 NC's, so you really only need one non s-ending team for most years.
