If just a handful of posters in this thread are divided on BP, how much division will there be in the overall fanbase? We all know Auburn works best divided.

If Auburn is smart (and I doubt they are) they will hire Petrino and deal with a few soccer moms. Even the soccer moms will come around in time.

or

They can make a Willie Taggart type hire and have the whole AU fanbase on a witch hunt.

Settle down bro. Of course he was fired for 3-9 along with other issues. Get off of your high horse in here. and stop acting like an a-hole.

Well it's not an act, first off. I guess I just don't think your point is relevant. For obvious reasons.

Didn't Bobby Humpries son and a couple others get arrested for a home invasion or some shite? Maybe it was drugs, I dunno.... Anyway, my comment about discipline was about him being disciplined enough to keep his dick in his pants, not so much about the players on the team. You aren't going to beat Saban if you are too busy chasing skirts all over campus.

Or even better they won't come back and this delusion of auburn can be put to bed.

I'm afraid we would look like Arkansas...some good years, maybe a BCS bowl, then, for whatever reason, he gone. I don't trust him.

Did you think we'd look like Ole Miss when we hired Tuberville? Samford when we hired Bowden? Wyoming when we hired Dye?

Petrino has burned a lot of bridges, but that's a good thing. Less places for him to go.

Just know that the most important thing about getting a new HC is putting us in a position to be a top program in the country again, competing with Alabama and LSU and playing in the big games.

I know that but I do not want a guy like this becoming the face of AU football. The last 2 programs hes been at he left them with a mess also.

He didn't leave Louisville in a mess. He left them with 10 future NFL players coming off an Orange Bowl win. Kragthorpe just underachieved

I'm no longer a part of the holyrollers club.

Let's do this.

It's not holy rollers. It's not soccer moms. It's not the Creed. It's not a God thing. And it's not Fambly bullshite no matter how many times it gets said on here.

It's not that he only tried to stab Tubs in the back. It's not that he only whored himself out to any team that would talk to him while at Louisville. It's not that he only quit on his team midseason and left under the cover of darkness without even addressing them. It's not that he only cheated on his wife. It's not that he only got his mistress a job, exposing the school to lawsuits. It's not that he only lied to his boss about it all.

It's not just one of those situations. It's not just two. It's all of them. It's his track record. It's the sum of all parts.

How some of y'all gloss over this is amazing to me. Tennessee fans did the same thing with Kiffen, and everyone warned them. But they spouted the same thing that so many AU fans are right now. And look what happened. And the same damn thing will happen here. It's not about second or even third chances. Some here are just being willfully obtuse.

I agree with most of that, but I'd still take him over a coordinator in a heartbeat.

He's only had one real situation. He bolted Louisville for the NFL. Who wouldn't? Then he realized he sucked in the NFL so he bolted when given an opportunity. He could've handled the situation better yes but really that's no big deal. The situation at Arkansas was the only real problem. Minus that situation he is exactly the same as Saban.

How dare he try to move up in the ranks and progress in his coaching career...

His franchise player got locked up right before Petrino started his first season, which led to a dumpster fire. He realized it wasn't for him. I don't agree with how he went about it, but he saw an opportunity to get back in the college game.

Personal problems. He may have learned his lesson, he may not have. If he didn't, we're in the same position we're in now. If he did, we're a year in year out contender.

I'd quit my job- without notice- for any similar job that offered me more money and benefits and advanced my career.. I think 99% of people here would also. Sure there are "nicer" ways of job hopping, but the end result is still the same.

Look I agree with most of what you said but you have to believe that if AU hires him he must of been sincere in his interview. He has no room for error anymore. If AU hires him I have to support. I'm not just going to say frick AU. It's my school. He's not the first on my list but I will support the decision. I hope you do as well.
