Phil Bennett, from Baylor says:

“Alabama? We would have beat them tonight!”

“That’s why Texas A&M is doing well in that league… SEC teams don’t face anything like us.”

What do y'all think about that little nugget? Need I duck?

*edit* OOPS not HC

Easy to talk when you can't be proven wrong. That's about all I think about that.

They did play a hell of a game Saturday night, and I for one am appreciative so I have no problem with anything the man says!

I don't recall them doing so well in title games vs. the SEC. Didn't Arky beat Kansas St. pretty handily last year?

Shame he didn't mention Missouri and their woes.

Head coach is Briles.

I know the CBS site says Bennett said that, but I just think they attributed it to the wrong person. It had to have been a fan that said it and neither Briles nor Bennett. I mean, they are now 5-5, 2-5 in the Big12 and haved moved up from being dead last in total defense in the country to #119 out of 120. I just don't think a corch for a team that bad would open their trap like that.

First of all, the statement about beating Bama on that one night is ok. They played fantastic.

However, why can't those Big 12 Goats realize that this A&M team is twice as good as their previous 10 teams. New coach, Johnny Football, heavy veteran offensive line... Auburn was great with all of those ingredients for one season, then they crashed. On top of all of that, they are still 3rd place in their own division.

Hey Big 12, how is the perinneal 9 win Mizzou handling the SEC?

Oh, this was the DC?

I don't really think the Baylor DC should be the one making grandiose comments about how good Baylor is. Their defense is ranked 119 in total and 114 in scoring defense (out of 120 teams) even after the "great" performance Saturday night. If this was coming from the OC or even the HC, then maybe, but Baylor's DC should probably slow his roll.

The proof is in the pudding. What would have been the 7th or 8th best team in the big 12 is in the BCS top 10 due to an extremely easy schedule filled with overrated football teams.

Not a big deal. If he had said the the could have beaten "anyone" that night, no one would notice. He just happened to pick another top five team. (Although it is funny to boast you could have beaten the #4 team after beating the #1 ranked team).

Alabama would just run the ball every down. Baylor is last in most every defensive category for a reason. We would never let them have the football.

I don't think anybody in college football would have beaten Baylor that night.

Phil was a decent lineman for A&M. He was fired as A&M's defensive coordinator. He was fired at SMU..he was fired at Pittsburgh. He stated last year that it was a dumb move for A&M to leave the Big 12.

He is just a sad person, mad at the world. The only job he could get was at Baylor and Saturday was the best his defense has ever played.

There was talk in the past few years that he would get canned at Baylor because his defense could not stop anything. He got lucky Saturday night.

It is very sad to see him go out this way.

If Briles leaves Baylor, you can bet his will not take Bennett with him.
