And apparently my fellow Longhorn fans are idiots - A&M's success directly affects ours much more than Alabama's success (or lack of) would

Agree. The win was a big time boost for the Aggies. What they've now got going for them vs Texas:

In the SEC, but can still play at home. Tell recruits to play the best and your parents and friends can still come to games.

Exciting new coach, doing a great job.

Double digit win season in the best conference in the nation.

Beat the #1 team, with said, first yr coach and young QB.

I would say, this was a worst case scenario for Texas and the Big 12, as far as how the season could have played out for the Aggies.

We wouldn't be what we are this season if we weren't in the SEC.
Johnny wouldn't develop like he has if he were playing in Big12 this year.

I agree about the Texas part. They are going to actually have to fight Aggie for the top Texas recruits now. And Aggie's talent level is about to go up significantly. Everyone knew Aggie had a chance to come in and compete with the big SEC programs, but it has happened sooner than expected, thanks to a bunch of seniors and JFF.

And about McCoy, he was throwing under the stadium with his dad at halftime and had no accuracy since he was having trouble gripping the football due to numbness in his arm and hand.

Agree, but many are just seeing it as an opportunity to say that the SEC is overrated if a crappy .500 Aggie team can come to the SEC and do this. To them, we are still and always be that same team.

At some point, they will have to admit we are a different team, but don't expect it anytime soon from the majority of them.
