With the playoffs happening in 2014 it would seem that expansion of the Conferences might be prevented.

I got to thinking that A&M has beat Texas this year without ever playing them. Its all about A&M and the SEC in Texas. I see Texas wanting to join the SEC to reestablish itself. Anybody else think this is a good possibility?

Depends on how much money is in it for the SEC I guess.

Won't leave OU, OU won't leave OSU. Next question?

So they are willing to become second tier in the state because of this?

It's up to the voting members isn't it? Unlike the Big 12 where all the decisions concerning the league are made by UT's AD.

Don't think A&M would vote for Texas coming to the SEC - it's just fine right now being the ONLY Texas team in the SEC.

According to them, that is impossible.

They wouldn't be second tier (that's TX Tech, UH, Baylor, SMU, TCU), regardless of conference affiliation. They're well aware they compete--and always will compete--with Texas A&M University.

The Ags & Horns will never again play in the same conference. Hatred abounds and runs very deep.

I think it goes to a full conference vote. I'm not sure if you and Missouri have full voting rights yet. For some reason I thought it was 2 years before you could vote.

I say bring in FSU. They would have four losses this year with an SEC schedule instead of sitting in 6th in the polls after pulling one out of their asses against Va Tech

Bow Tie-
Its a fair question, but t.u. has painted itself into a corner. They cannot and will not go to another conference for the following reasons:

1) ESPN gave them a truck load of $$ for the LHN and tu CANNOT cancel it without apocalyptic financial consequences.
2) The SEC will not let them join if they insist on keeping the LHN.
3) Texas A&M (karma's a bitch) will roll their black ball to vote against their inclusion.
4) SEC does not need or want another Texas team.
5) They know they cannot compete in the SEC, but have a (diminishing)chance to win big 12-2-2+2.

The surface reason that is offered so often of "They are too greedy, too arrogant, too pompous" is really true but NOT the reason it won't happen.

As they said in Watergate,"follow the money."

Yeah, make the SEC tougher so everybody has enough losses that they wont be in the top 4. Oregon, Ohio State, Big 12 and Notre Dame. It was dumb to add A&M and Mizz and dumber to add other teams that can play spoiler.

Texas would get in if they wanted. No question about it. A&M and maybe LSU wouldn't vote them in but that's probably it. Outside of Notre Dame, they're easily the biggest program out there still.

I'd suggest adding La-Monroe and La-Lafayette since they appear to be on par with sec teams. Florida may vote against La-Laf.

Pretty sure you are thinking of other conferences that penalize new members. SEC is unique in bringing new members in with full voting rights, equal rev share, and no exit fee. No other conferene has the balls to offer this to new members.

Texas would never eat crow and join the SEC assuming they could get the votes.

You may be right.

So Texas is really that arrogant that they would prefer not to be in the undisputed best conference in football and allow A&M the ability to out recruit them for decades?

I guess that is the ultimate Aggie dream for Texas to self destruct.
