Chizik lost the team when he entangled himself in the running of the offense under Malzahn. I know he's the head coach and I know it's his way or the highway, but why fix something that isn't broken? I'll tell you why, his ego took a big hit when it was Malzahn, and not Chizik, that got most of the credit for the 2010 season. He wanted to prove something and ended up falling flat on his face and losing his best assistant in the process.

I don't know if you remember but that '09 offense was pretty damn efficient with Chris Todd at the helm, too.

before the season I am guessing. I mean look at how they played from the get go.
They had early losses, but they played Clemson and LSU tough, and had a non-blowout loss to MSU. They didn't truly have a game where they laid down until us either. Even though it was 21 points, the Ole Miss game was still in doubt pretty late into the game.

I think half the team checked out with the loss to Arkansas and the other half midway through the A&M game. Had they played one of their cupcakes earlier, they may have felt they had more to play for, gave more effort mid-season.

They still are a bad team, but they still could have maybe made a bowl game had the schedule unfolded differently.
